Women’s Day
Dedicated to all the women in my life.
Today is International Women’s Day which is exciting because a) I am a woman and b) I like to support other women.
I can write line after line about great women in the history of the world but really my favorite women are in the history (and present day) of my small world.
From my one grandma who tried valiantly to teach me how to knit to the other grandma who taught the entire family the Electric Slide.
From my one cousin who can make anything fun to my other cousin who was the big sister I never had and will run any ridiculous race with me that I ask her to.
From my one roommate who got me a Love Stinks rat for Valentine’s Day but who taught by example about respect and being there for someone to my two roommates I had during my volunteer year who embodied what it meant to fully live life.
From my high school friends who have stayed by me all these years to my softball friends that have become dear to me in the last ten years.
From one of my best friends who checks in on me every day to one of my other best friends who can read me better and quicker than anyone else.
From my aunt who has been there for every recital/sporting event/special event in my life to my mom who has literally been there for everything.
From fancy events like weddings to just hanging out in sweatpants and having wine and pizza, the women in my life have been my role models, my family and my friends. So here is to them, the women in my life, my (and the rest of the world) are better with you in it.
