What if a Country’s Best Cheese Determined Their Olympic Sport?
It’s un-brie-lievable how a mind works
National Cheese Day was on June 4. The Olympics kick-off on July 26, 2024. In what may be the most random cheese pairing ever, I got to thinking: “What if your country’s best sport was determined by it’s most famous cheese?” Once this thought was in my head, it was off to the races I went…
First up, France with their cheese choice of Brie. Now, a Brie is a delicate kind of cheese, perfect for fancy parties. Everyone knows it, but that doesn’t mean that it is not special when it is brought out. So France, I give you….GYMNASTICS. Gymnastics is one of the most high-profile sports, and it deserves the crème de la crème of cheeses.
Second, we have England with their cheese choice of Cheddar. Now, Cheddar is a hard core kind of cheese. After all, this is the cheese that they roll a wheel down a hill in Gloucestershire each year, AND PEOPLE CHASE AFTER IT. Many people sustain injuries this way. And so, England, I give you RUGBY. Dude, rugby is not for the faint of heart so I give you a solid dependable cheese.
Third, we have Italy with their cheese choice of Parmigiano-Reggiano. Even its name is a combination. This cheese is used in tandem to enhance many things, especially pasta. And so, we have the perfect Olympic sport about working together: CREW. Just like Parmigiano-Reggiano adds to pasta to make it better, so does every member of a crew team working together to create poetry on the water.
