The Wise Words of Dr. Seuss
and the fun brain of a child
A friend of mine recently told me this story about her child.
As she picked up her child from their dance lesson, the child told her she would rather “hang out with a sea-sick crocodile than her teacher.”
Her mom stopped for a second and asked, “Like from The Grinch?” The Grinch being the classic Dr. Seuss novel and movie from 1966.
The child responded yes and then spent the rest of the ride home going through the song and everything she would instead do than spend time with her teacher.
The mom jokingly told me that the next time I get annoyed with someone, I should remember her child and think about how I would rather “hang out with a sea-sick crocodile” than the person I am annoyed with.
Reader, I am shocked to tell you that this actually works!
I had the opportunity to put it into practice the following day, and it gave me a little chuckle and let me move on much faster.
So, if you are ever annoyed with someone, think about how you would rather “hang out with a sea-sick crocodile.” I do not promise it will help your “heart grow three sizes that day,” but it just might work to be less annoyed and have a little laugh.
