I Missed You
It’s funny how a song can instantly remind us of someone or some moment in the past.
As I listened to a random Spotify playlist today, the song “Stay (I Missed You)” came on.
Now I remember when the song came out, and I’m sure I had memories of it beforehand, but for whatever reason, it will forever be associated with a former roommate who loved it. Why? I have no idea. I mean, it is a solid song, but I don’t know if that is why she loves it.
I don’t get to see this old roommate very often. Maybe three times over the past 15 years, so it is a joy every time this song comes on because I briefly have the opportunity to think of her and smile when I remember the good times we had together.
We will probably never live in the same place, let alone the same section of the country again, but what is great is that I have so many memories to look back on, “Stay” to remember her in the present and the knowledge that she will always be a friend in the future.
So, thanks, Lisa Loeb. Thanks for giving the world a song about missing someone, but that actually helped me smile and laugh a little when I thought about her today.
