Some Athletes to Cheer For
Part 2
And so we continue our journey of athletes to cheer for in these Paris Olympic games…
31. Cambodia: Chhun Bunthorn (men’s 800 meter running) — fun fact: he is interested in drawing and has taken classes.
32. Cameroon: Sarah Hanffou (Table Tennis). She is active in community service and working with youth.
33. Canada: Jean-Simon Desgagnés (3000 meter steeplechase). Apparently this guy is quite smart and is currently in medical school and pursuing a MA in immunology.
34. Cape Verde: Daniel Varela de Pina (Men’s 51 kg boxing).
35. Central African Republic: Nadia Matchiko Guimendego (Judoka). Though born in France, her parents are from the Central African Republic.
36. Chad: Israel Madaye (Archery). According to Wikipedia, this young man is a resident archer at the World Archery Excellence Centre in Switzerland. I mean, if you want to learn archery, might as well go to a center of excellence.
37. Chile: Nicolás Jarry (Tennis). He was one of their flag bearers this year and is married to an economist.
38. China: Wang Zhen (High Jump). He is from Jiangsu, China.
39. Colombia: Santiago Buitrago (Road Racing). He presently rides for UCI WorldTeam Team Bahrain Victorious which must be interesting trying to fit all of that onto a singlet.
