National Smile Day
2 min readJun 2, 2024
May 31st this year was National Smile Day, and really, who doesn’t love to smile? In honor of the day, I have come up with a non-exhaustive list of things that make me smile. I would love to hear what makes you smile, so please feel free to add in the comments.
So without further ado….
- Seeing dogs on the street.
- When you are waiting for a friend and then you see them walking up.
- Donna Summer’s music. I hear the first notes of “Last Dance” and “Heaven Knows” and I immediately get excited.
- When you are walking under a canopy of trees and the sunlight shines in just so.
- Musicals.
- Eating spaghetti.
- Playing basketball.
- My dog.
- When my mom will sing “Hit the Road Jack” with me.
- Watching Villanova basketball games with my dad.
- Spending time with my cousins.
- Moments of connections with people. They can be fleeting like discussing a necklace with a stranger or laughing like I did on the phone with one of my best friends yesterday.
- Checking out street art in Philly.
- Exploring different places.
- The view from the Millard E. Tydings Bridge in Maryland.
- Seeing something associated with a place in that particular place — like a Canadian Goose in Canada or a Chihuahua in Chihuahua.
