Let’s Celebrate It All

Why not?

Recently an old friend messaged me about getting engaged, but since it was her second wedding, she didn’t feel the need to shout it off the rooftops.

Girl, shout it off the rooftops. Hell, proclaim it off the Eiffel Tower or the Empire State Building. If you are happy, then I’m happy.

I think, nay I believe, that we should celebrate the good things in life a little bit more. Why be limited in what we can celebrate?

If you need some inspiration, I have provided some examples of more uncommon things to celebrate:

  1. Finally finishing that binge-watch of fill-in-the-blank TV series. Do you know how much commitment goes into binging Game of Thrones or The Wire? A few years ago, I started watching Game of Thrones with a guy I was seeing at the time. The relationship ended, but there was no way I wouldn’t finish the series on my end. Congratulate someone on the persistence and the dedication required to complete a series. It’s not as easy as it looks.
  2. Trying something new. This differs for everyone. Maybe you are an adventurous type and have recently returned from scaling Mt. Everest. Conversely, perhaps you decided to try kayaking a mile in the Delaware River for the first time. Each is worthy of celebration. Many things in life are scary, yet we still try them — let’s commend people for doing that.
  3. Singing karaoke at a bar. A person is willingly putting themselves out there to be judged by other people. How brave is…
