Let a daffodil make you smile.
As I sit here, I am listening to someone skateboard outside. Back and forth. Back and forth. I never could skateboard. I could minimally roller blade but never skateboard. My cousin had an electric skateboard. Once I got on it, he pressed the go button…and I fell flat off of it. In front of all my family.
But I love that people are outside on a beautiful fall night. Earlier I took a book and read outside for a while. Now someone is skateboarding. All across the city I live in, people are outside.
Sometimes it is hard to take those moments to appreciate the world around us. We blow by carefully maintained flower pots. We run by a tree not noticing how perfectly the light is reflecting off the leaves. We look down at our phones when we could be looking up at the achingly blue of the sky. Life weighs us down. So if I can say anything today, it’s just find something that is beautiful outside. Take a moment to admire it. It sounds corny but love that you get to be alive and see how a purple and blue arrangement of flowers perfectly complement each other or that the sunset combines all of your favorite colors in just the right way.
Take a moment and let a daffodil make you smile.
