Here is to the ladies who inspire

Today is International Women’s Day. While there are many real-life examples of women to celebrate, there are some TV women characters I’d also like to acknowledge as being the best the gender can be.

  1. Keeley from Ted Lasso. — Girlboss Keeley is not only set to open her own PR firm at the end of the last season, but she is also the best kind of friend. For example, she accepts people for who they are and understands when her boyfriend’s niece unexpectedly has to spend the holiday with them. But my favorite thing about Keeley is how she makes people believe they can be their best version.
  2. Mary Richards from Mary Tyler Moore Show — She is figuring out how to succeed independently. It’s not easy, but she is “making it after all.
  3. Meredith Grey and Christina Yang from Grey’s Anatomy — Ah, the twisted sisters. These two are BRILLIANT surgeons, breaking down glass ceilings left and right and honestly making no apologies for it. Behind the scenes, though, instead of being competitive, they understand that they are each other’s person and are there for each other in good times and bad.
  4. Blanca Evangelista from Pose — Blanca cared for others even when she had barely anything to give. She took in people who were only kids off the street, gave them a place to live, and was “their mother.” It is fitting that there is one scene where she sings the song “Home” because she was home to so many people in the show.
