So many bowls, so much to learn about.

She responded to my text with “Next week I’m going to Miami,” followed by a nervous-looking emoji and an orange.

I didn’t get it.

“You are nervous about eating an orange?”

Apparently, she was trying to convey that she was going to the Orange Bowl.

I did not go to a school where football was a thing. I do not know bowl games. I have now asked my dad a million questions, trying to understand the hierarchy and history.

I’m still a bit lost.

In case anyone else is in the same boat as me, I’ve decided to do a rundown of the bowl games that happened/are happening this season. These are not in order of importance.

  • Cricket Celebration Bowl, held in Atlanta. Apparently held to “celebrate the heritage, legacy, pageantry, and tradition of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.” Well, I’m certainly glad I looked that one up before asking if it was insect-related.
  • IS4S Salute to Veterans Bowl, held in Montgomery, AL.
  • Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl, held in Frisco, TX.
  • Boca Raton Bowl, held in, you guessed it, Boca Raton, FL.
  • Art of Sport LA Bowl Hosted by Gronk, held in L.A., CA. The bowl game works with various non-profits in the L.A. region, such as One for All Kids, the Boys & Girls Club of Metro Los Angeles, and the Boys & Girls Club of L.A. Harbor. As someone with a…
