Because we all could use some these days

Maybe you feel a bit stressed due to work, life, geopolitical events? Perhaps you don’t want to sit down, watch TV, and end up feeling sadder than when you started? If so, I have five great recommendations for you:

  1. Derry Girls. I LOVE this show. It is about four teenage girls and one teenage guy growing up in Derry during the Troubles. This gang gets into hijinks (see them attempting to clean Fionnula’s chip shop), shoulder heartbreak (see Erin’s many attempts at love), but above all, see them support each other. They may not understand each other’s passions (like Orla and Jazzercise), but they are there for each other. It’s funny and heartwarming and a must-watch comfort TV show for me.
  2. Schitt’s Creek. Synopsis: the Rose family loses all their money and must move to a motel in a small town in Canada. There they learn about reinvention, family, and acceptance. It is hysterical. It won a ton of Emmys a couple of years ago and truly deserved them.
  3. Ted Lasso. Summary: Ted is an American football coach hired to coach a British Premier League soccer/football team. He brings positivity and light even while dealing with some significant issues in his own life. The show is about support and acceptance. Yes, it is funny, but it is also about heart, and I love shows that are all about heart.
  4. Great British Bake Off / Baking Show (depending on where you are): A certain number of bakers are chosen to compete in a series of challenges each…
