Finding Small Purposes…
Might lead up to a pretty meaningful life
There are people out there who seem to know what they were born to do. You know the people, I mean. The ones who find a passion, grab hold of it, and off they go, never in doubt. I think that’s great. However, I believe that many more people are in my boat, the “well, I like a lot of things, I don’t know what my grand purpose in life is” dinghy.
Note: I don’t know precisely what a dinghy is, other than a type of boat.
Note 2: Today is National Talk Like a Pirate Day. Love it.
Anyway, back to the purpose of this article. Or porpoise if we are continuing with the nautical theme.
I’m still testing out my theory, but I think it might help me when I find myself stuck in the whole “WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO” swamp to realize that we serve small purposes every single day.
Last weekend, I was at a show where the seating was comprised of rows of folding chairs. Since there was no assigned seating, I chose a seat in the second row when I arrived. All good.
Shortly after my arrival, two little girls (approximately five and two years of age) came in and were excited to find two empty chairs in the front row right ahead of me. Due to the availability of seats, the parents sat right behind me and within close range of their children in case something should go wrong.
Now, because I am a big child myself, I amused myself by playing peek-a-boo with the two girls…
