Falling for fall
Yesterday one of my good friends sent me a picture of her baby in a skeleton outfit and asked “Too soon?” To which, I thought for a second and replied “Absolutely not.” Now I’m not one of those people who gets all enthusiastic about Halloween or the finer things of fall. I tend to pick my Halloween costume last minute and it is usually chosen due to it’s ease and comfort. In regards to fall, I’m not a huge pumpkin spice person. *gasp I know* I also think pumpkin pie is not even the best pie at Thanksgiving (that award goes to apple pie with vanilla ice cream) But regardless of my reservations about the season, if you want to get all excited by the introduction of more pumpkin into your day, I say go for it.
Sometimes people feel they must reign in their enthusiasm for a particular season, person, event or any other noun that would fit into the category of “things people get excited about.” Let it out people, let the enthusiasm and joy out. I mean, little kids have no problem letting it out. They skip. They jump in puddles. They climb rocks just because they can. Life is something is to be explored and enjoyed.
But as we get older, the weights of the world seemed to crush us down. We often don’t have the will or the energy to go climb that rock or dance in a public place or get excited about seeing someone. So if we somehow find that we have enthusiasm for something, whether it is the season of fall or polka dancing or Pomeranians, I declare that you should share it with the world. Maybe you will get some looks, but eh, who cares? More likely people will…
