Or how I managed to injure myself while hula hooping

Last weekend Philly Dance Fitness hosted Philly Dance Day. Except for 2020, they do it every year, and I love it. Suppose you were wondering what Philly Dance Day entails. In that case, it is a dance studio, Philly Dance Fitness, and a few other dance studios or groups that offer free classes for one glorious day a year in a wide variety of disciplines.

Over the years, I’ve tried my hand at:
a) swing dancing — I loved the music but was not a fan of the rules and etiquette involved.
b) belly dancing — because the Irish are known for dances that involve lots of hip action.
c) Israeli folk dancing — I’m still trying to find Israeli folk that does this because it was fun.
d) salsa — which was way more complicated than it looks. I learned that I have some difficulty with counting steps.

This year I took four classes. I will go back to forward:

Last Class: Solo swing. Or, as I like to call it, the story of my dating life. We learned a move called the “shim sham,” which I think could also be an excellent name for a drink at a speakeasy. It was fun, though. While participating in the class, I longingly looked at the massive water fountain in the kids’ park next door and wondered if it would be inappropriate for an adult to run through it after my class as it was a tad hot out.
