Trying another culinary creation

Today I had my first corn dog. Yes, I know, how does one live to be in their mid-thirties without having eaten one. I simply do not know. I have tried many other common carnival foods: deep-fried Oreos, funnel cake, slices of questionable pizza, popcorn, cotton candy…and as I list them I understand why America might have an obesity problem but that is neither here nor there.

But yes, the mighty corn dog had eluded me thus far in my life. For those of you unfamiliar with the corn dog, it is a deep-fried hot dog on a stick. Why is the stick necessary? From what I can tell, it is to make it even easier to consume which I don’t think was a real problem, to begin with. I wonder about the origins. Did someone drop a hot dog in a deep fryer by mistake? So there is this wonderful establishment in Philadelphia called the Reading Terminal Market which has been there for ages (that is a technical unit of time) and is home to pretty much any kind of food you may want. On my trip there today, I also bought honey butter, kiwi strawberry jam, a paella-making kit, Whoopie pie with cookies and creme filling, and chocolate butter cake so that is just a very brief sample of what they have to offer. In case you are wondering about my diet, fear not, they do have fruits and vegetables and I have…
