Celebrate Something on a Rainy Day

Fun fact: there is a peanut butter and jelly day

We are on the third day of rain here on the East Coast, and there will be a fourth day. The adage “April showers bring May flowers” is certainly true this year.

(The best part of that adage is the follow-up joke: “What do Mayflowers bring? Pilgrims!” It never gets old.)

Yesterday, while it was a rainy day, it was also National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day.

Yes, I know; I almost missed it as well.

But fear not, I remembered and thought it could be a fun diversion to the rain to celebrate this momentous day.

(It does not take much to amuse me.)

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches were a staple of my childhood school lunches. They are easy to make, have protein, and taste good. I don’t know who first thought of combining peanut butter and jelly, but I thank them for it.

Yesterday morning, after realizing the day’s importance, I learned I had neither peanut butter nor bread.

Fear not, dear reader; this story does not end in tragedy. I pivoted and remembered that CVS has these Smuckers PBJ Snackables. Ah ha! Peanut butter and jelly day is saved!

I traversed through the rain to the local CVS location, where I found the Smuckers section. I was confronted with a dilemma: Should I go with the peanut butter and grape jelly option, or should I go with the peanut butter and strawberry jam…
