Bog Life 2020
Do you ever get the feeling after watching the news in 2020 that you are just sinking in a bog and no matter how much you try to get out — more stuff gets piled on you? And you walk around feeling weighed down by the world, because in a sense you are?
Everyone seems to have an opinion about everything these days.
But what everybody doesn’t seem to have is a nice opinion. I feel like maybe instead of putting people down or blaming others, we should be lifting others up. Giving people a hand to get out of the bog. So in case you are looking for ideas on how to do that, I have a few:
- Thank someone for something every day. Maybe it’s an interesting blog post. Maybe it’s a family member who means a lot to you but you don’t tell them enough. Maybe it is an old teacher who inspired you. Thank them. Send them an email, call them on the phone, heck even send an airplane with a banner — make sure they know that someone appreciates them today.
- Stop reading so much news or focus your news on stories of people helping each other. And I think it is generally best to avoid the comments section. The only kind of trolls I like have long colorful hair that stands straight up.
- Write something positive on the internet. Maybe it is something you witnessed. Maybe it is something you think can make the world a better place. Maybe it is a picture of your puppy smiling. Actually one should always share smiling puppy photos. That should be mandatory. But put something good out there into the abyss. Hopefully…
