Best Quotes from Ted Lasso

Two days ago, I watched the series finale of Ted Lasso. It ended the way I hoped it would, with a lot of heart and a ton of hope. Ted Lasso has been a font of many thoughtful and inspirational quotes over its three seasons. These are some of my favorites:

“You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It’s a goldfish. Do you know why? It’s got a ten-second memory. Be a goldfish.”

The character Sam in the show was having a bad game, and Ted Lasso said this to him. I play rec league softball. I try to think of this quote if I have a game where nothing seems to go my way. Honestly, it helps me bounce back and say, “Okay, let’s try again. The past is the past; let’s move forward and have fun.”

“Be curious, not judgmental.”

I love this quote. We tend to open the doors to our lives much wider if we feel the person on the other side is receptive, and this metaphorical door goes both ways. I love learning about different things, and it’s always special when someone opens up and shares something about their life.

“You deserve to feel like you’ve been struck by (redacted) lightning.”

Whoever reads this, please know that you are special just by being you. You don’t need to write a book, climb Mt. Everest, have children, or cure world hunger; you are already special. Try to spend as much time as possible with people who recognize that you are lovely by being yourself.
